A Tokyo school stained ivory netsuke of a shishi dancer with a drum, by Yasutomo (Hôyû). Late 19th century

The dancer is hidden underneath the green mask cloth and pushing up the mask with a movable jaw, the open mouth revealing a child’s face inside. Details painted black and brown and inlays of mother-of-pearl. Signed Yasutomo (Hôyû) on an inlaid red lacquer tablet.
