A boxwood netsuke of Jurôjin and a stag. Around 1970

The god of longevity sits behind a reclining stag, resting his head in his hand and and holding a scroll. The face, arm, hands, the antlers, and himotôshi lining of stag antler, the pupils of black horn, the eye of the stag and the end knob of the scroll of brown horn. Signed Shinzan (= Shinzan Masanao, 1904-1982).
