A Kyoto school ivory netsuke of a shishimai mask. Late 18th/early 19th century

The square-shaped head with bulging eyes and flat nose covered all over with hair tufts and locks, the lower jaw opens downwards to reveal a tongue and an upper and lower row of teeth. Inscribed Tomotada in a raised rectangular reserve.
