Italy 19th century

A marble figure of a captive, Italian, 19th century.

Carved in the round.. The piece shows a young woman cowering on stony ground, her left hand bound by a shackle. She wears a cloth drawn about her naked body and her head and face are covered by a thin veil.
The finger tips of the left hand lost, otherwise perfect. Height 51 cm.
