A very good Kyoto school ivory netsuke of Hotei with a fan, by Yoshitomo. Late 18th century

Seated and leaning on his left arm, the loosely tied robe revealing his rounded belly, a large Chinese-style fan in his right hand, the robe covered with a dense pattern on finely incised chrysanthemums and scrolls. The eye pupils of black horn. Signed Yoshitomo in a rounded rectangular reserve.
