An ivory netsuke of a monkey beside a namazu. Late 18th century

Wearing a sleeveless jacket, the monkey tries to calm an earthquake fish with flapping tail fin by holding him down with the weight of his body and a double gourd. Eye pupils of the fish of black horn.
Height 2.8 cm; length 4.5 cm
