A fine Edo school ivory netsuke of Raiden, by Chokusai. Mid-19th century

Crouching over his large drum with tomoe crest and clutching the rope tied to the drum, from his belt hangs a tobacco pouch with the characters “hi no yo” (beware of fire) and a kagamibuta. The eye pupils of brass, the nails of the drumhead and the disc of the kagamibuta of black horn. Signed Chokusai.
