A painted wood netsuke of Ryûjin’s attendant. Late 19th century

With a fierce expression, standing upright with a jewel that regulates the tide, a dragon climbing up his back, supporting itself on the attendant's shawl, arm and shoulder and placing its chin on his head. Pigments in various colours and details in gold.
Height 9.2 cm
