An opulent Berlin silver table centrepiece made for the Dukes of Salm and Beissel von Gymnich.

Comprising a jardinière formed as a basket woven from grape vines and two corresponding eight-flame candelabra. Bearing the arms of the Dukes of Salm and Beissel von Gymnich. Marks of Heinrich Friedeberg, ca. 1850 – 60. H of candelabra 70, of the jardinière 55 cm, total weight ca. 24,000 g.

Heinrich Friedeberg (1819 - 85) was born in St. Petersburg and apprenticed under Joseph Ferdinand Reiß in Berlin from 1834 - 38. As of 1845 he carried the title of “Court Jeweller to the Price of Prussia”, and he became court jeweller to the Russian Emperor in 1867.
