An ivory netsuke of Fukusuke returning from the tori no ichi fair, by Masatsugu. Late 19th century

Standing in haori and a striped robe, he shoulders a willow branch with auspicious objects and toys such as an Okame mask, a ledger with the characters “daifukuchô” and an inscription with the date Meiji sannen (1870) ichigatsu kichinichi, a dice, a takarabune, a bag with takaramono, an arrow, koban-coins and small pearls of metal. Signed Masatsugu in an irregular reserve.
