An Italian Neoclassical canvas screen. Applied with 16 copperplate engravings. With traces of wear and moisture. H 219, W of one wing 63.5, total W 254 cm.
Italy, 19th C., the engravings primarily by Guiseppe Vasi, 2nd half 18th C.

The engraved architectural motifs originate from the series "Le Macchine del Fuocco", begun by Guiseppe Vasi for Pope Benedict XVI in 1745 and continued for Pope Clemens XIV in 1769 and Pope Pius VI in 1774.
