A polychromed and lacquered wood figure of Guandi seated with legs wide apart on a separately carved rockwork bench, the wide cloak held together by the hands falling open to reveal the armour underneath with a large roundel with a blue dragon on a golden and red patterned ground in relief, the cloak with a wave pattern, the borders with golden flowers and scrolls in relief on a green ground, the youthful face with a beard of long inserted hairs. Ming dynasty, probably Wanli period.
