A Vizagapatam sandalwood and ivory casket. Ca. 1920/1930

A Vizagapatam sandalwood casket partly overlaid with ivory fretwork, engraved with flowers and scrolls, with white alloy lock and hinges. The panel on the lid mounted with a central miniature in gouache on ivory with the Taj Mahal, inscribed on the border Taj Mahal Agra, and a second inspription on the lid: Sahebzadi Begum. The interior with a detachable traybox, devided into compartments. Some minor losses to the ivory and a crack to inside of the lid. Ca. 1920/1930.
