The goldsmith Hans Markl (1910 - 1971) was initally employed as substitute workshop master for H. J. Wilm in Berlin. He was appointed by the Meisterschule für das Kunsthandwerk in 1951 and became a professor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste in 1971. He was awarded the Bayerisches Staatspreis and the Cellini prize in gold for his designs. His most famous work is probably the altar crucifix of the Berlin Gedächtniskirche.
