Herm Dienz - Sizilianische Küstenlandschaft bei Taormina
Sizilianische Küstenlandschaft bei Taormina
Oil on thin panel 74.8 x 98 cm Framed (presumably artist's frame). Signed and dated 'Herm Dienz. 1925.' in black lower right. - In some areas, especially in the lower part, with various older losses of colour; professionally cleaned and restored.
According to the information given by Britta Klöpfer, this is a motif from the journey to Sicily in 1925 which the artist finished later with the help of sketches and photographs in his studio in Westerwald. The large-scale format of this impressive coastal depiction is quite beautiful, as well as unusual rare in his oeuvre. The only other known painting from Sicily is located in the Mittelrhein-Museum, Koblenz (Klöpfer WV 25006). In graphics, the journey is reflected in the lithographic cycle "Siciliana", among others.
