Untitled
1975

"Luther's artistic explorations - which in many ways touched on and overlapped with the most advanced endeavours of contemporary art, but were neither identical with nor came to be part of them - not only explored virgin artistic soil but also sharpened and changed our perception of the word. Its relevance is greater now than ever before.
It was Luther who brought light as energy, as an energetic force, to the realm of perception, instead of illustrating it as other artists do as a source of fascination and cloaking it in mystification. It was Luther who, by using complex systems of mirrors and lenses, created immaterial but nevertheless visible, real and simultaneously undefined images that hover before the face of life, which prompted a hushed awe and still manage to do so in our simulative media age, and demonstrated the existence of “parallel worlds” that elude direct perception."
