A Berlin enamelled copper snuffbox commemorating the battle of Liegnitz

With a portrait of Frederick II to the interior, probably after Anton Friedrich König. Decorated with trophies to the body and underside. Cracks, signs of wear. Ca. 4 cm x 8.8 cm x 6.9 cm.
Berlin, attributed to the Fromery Workshop, after 1760.

The battle of Liegnitz on 15th August 1760 marked the moment in which the Prussian army was finally able to free itself from the grip of the Austrian troops and reconquer parts of Silesia. This snuffbox with a rare battle scene commemorates Prussia's first great triumph in the Seven Years' War.
