A Tibetan blue-ground thangka of Shadbhuja Mahakala. 19th century

Shadbhuja Mahakala in his six-armed emanation as protector of wisdom trampling down Ganesha, holding skull cup and kartrika in his main hands and damaru, skull mala, lasso and khatvanga in the other hands, with two Gelugpa lamas in the upper corners. Inscriptions to the reverse. Gouache and gold paint on cloth. Brocade mounting.
