Two carved wood figures of Saint Catherine and Saint Barbara, presumably South German, circa 1500

The reverse flattened. An 8cm strip added to both left sides. Extensively overpainted older polychromy. Two pierced wooden reliefs of crowned female saints facing towards each other. Both wear floor-length gowns and richly draped golden cloaks. The identifying attributes of the figures are, for Catherine, the sword and the broken wheel of her martyrdom at her feet, whilst Barbara is shown with a chalice.
Wear with minor losses to the crowns. Height of each 107 cm, depth of each 5 cm.
