A patinated bronze figure of a female satyr

A depiction of a nude satyr with vine leaves draped around her waist, seated on a moulded plinth. The bronze caster and sculptor Pietro Tacca arrived in Florence in 1592 where he first worked in the studio of Giovanni Bologna and later took over the running of his house and foundry following the master's death in 1608. Tacca was named court sculptor to the grand duke in 1609.
Mounted on a wooden plinth. Height 16 cm (without plinth).
