Bronze Height 16.1 cm Monogrammed 'RS' on the plinth rear right and foundry mark "H.NOACK BERLIN" on left narrow side. - Dark brown, partially lightened patina.

Masterfully and not without pathos, Renée Sintenis here captures the moment of two young horses rearing-up in merry playfulness. The pyramidal composition appears completely natural; the extremely vividly modelled surface of this beautiful cast reflects the sensitivity of the horses.
"The animal in the foreground appears to be a reworking of the foal from 1915 (cat. 122), whereby the muscle work and exertion are now prominent. […] Stylistically, the group is closely related to the works created in the 30s so that this decade may be assumed to be the time of origin." (cited after: Britta Buhlmann, Renée Sintenis.
