A large sandstone head of a Guanyin, the eyes with heavy eyelids cast down in meditation and a very small mouth, wearing a very high crown with a central lantsa character, stylised flowers and scrolls, the forehead with an urna, and neatly arranged thick strands of hair. Red pigments to the crown and the bands arranged above the ears. Ming dynasty. Mounted on a metal stand.
