Delft, De Grieksche A. Manufactory, Pieter Adriaensz Kocks, 1701 - 1703.

In 1701, King Frederick I commissioned the Delft "De Grieksche A" manufactory with the production of a dinner service for the feast to celebrate the founding of the royal Order of the Black Eagle. This service was to be decorated with the emblems of the order, making it the first ceramic service of its kind. All pieces, including the plates, were to be used during the Order's annual banquet. The festivities are known to have taken place in the Knight's Court of Berlin Palace, at the latest by 1703.
