A small round lidded box for incense (kôgô) displaying a wall section with a fusuma decorated with phoenix and kiri in hiramakie and hikite of mother-of-pearl, a ranma with a metal shishi amidst peonies on a mother-of-pearl ground in a sunken reserve and a red pillar, all on a nashiji and okibirame ground. The rims lined with pewter and nashiji to the inside. 19th century.
