A boxwood netsuke of a snake encircled a tortoise, by Masatami. Late 19th century

While the snake winds around the domed carapace, the tortoise tries to push away the snake with its right forepaw. The eye pupils of the tortoise of black glass. Signed Masatami in a rectangular reserve.
Height 3.3 cm; length 5.4 cm
