A very large ebony wood netsuke of a catfish. Early 19th century

The namazu or earthquake fish with long barbells, fins pressed close to the body and with tail curved in an arc to form a loop. The eyes of bone and black horn. Very large and well-hollowed out himotôshi. Inscribed Minko with kaô.
Height 2.6 cm; length 7.7 cm
