A Belle Epoque 18k gold and pearl pendant

A large hollow blister pearl in an unusual Baroque form (ca. 23.5 x 11.9 x 14.8 mm) the hollow filled with a brownish substance (probably resin). The mounting with chased vine tendrils picked out in green enamel. Suspended from a modern chain, the hanging loop crowned by a freshwater pearl. Stamped: Russian controll stamp for gold 1908 -17. Chain stamped: Fineness 750. Minor chips and discolouration to the pearl. Chain and pendant with replaced freshwater pearl. 3,3 cm. Weight 8 g. L chain: 48 cm, weight 2.8 g.

Including a letter from Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schlüter, Mineralogisch-Petrographisches Institut der Universität Hamburg dated 03.12.2012 with the results of an x-ray of the pearl "The appearance of the pearl and the results of the x-ray indicate it to be a natural saltwater hollow pearl".
