A large German silver nautilus chalice

After the design of the so-called "Permoser-Pokal" in the Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden. The shell finely etched with griffons and tendrils, the figural shaft formed as a faun sitting on a treestump. The upper mounting presumably a later addition to cover a crack in the nautilus shell. H 38 cm.1,522 g.
