The Battle of Issus

Carved boxwood. A fine relief, especially thinly wrought in the landscape background. Alexander, inscribed above "Alexander (...)" in a younger hand, and Darius are depicted as the central figures in a detailed battle scene.
With vertical hairline cracks. Mounted on a wooden panel and framed. 21 x 24.5 x 2 cm.
