This portrait depicts the Austrian Field Marshall Johann Joseph Wenzel Anton Franz Karl Graf Radetzky von Radetz (Jan Josef Václav hrabe Radecký z Radce, 1766 - 1858), who developed the plan for the Battle of Leipzig in 1813. He was awarded numerous Orders on account of his extraordinary military service, and today he is still known as the inspiration for Johann Strauss' Radetzky March, which was performed for the first time in Vienna in 1848.
