A 21k gold and tiger claw necklace

Two-stranded necklace made from six tiger claws (ca. 35 mm) in filigree surrounds alternating with five bas relief filigree animal motifs and a small floral pendant. With a pierced clasp. L 42 cm. Weight 66.32 g.
India, circa 1870.

Tiger claw jewellery was particularly popular during the time of England's colonial reign in India under Queen Victoria (the so-called Raj Period). It was specially made for travellers from England and sold as a typically Indian souvenir.
