A set of 40 wooden game pieces

20 pale and 20 tinted numbered turned maple gaming pieces. H 1.1-1.2 cm, diameter 3.9 cm.
Nuremberg, late 18th C., in a conforming associated 19th C. case.

Some of the game pieces are illustrated with portraits of kings and queens, such as Charles VI, Franz I, Empress Maria Theresia, King Frederick II of Prussia, and King Louis XVI of France, but the majority are inscribed with mottos in Latin or German. Some pieces with erotic motifs.
