A rare Gothic two-handled mortar with owner's mark

Cast bronze with dark brown patina. Thick-walled cylindrical vessel with stepped rim. Four Gothic column ribs surround the outer surface with two smaller ribs below the handle, terminating in pad feet. With two shields bearing the owner's cypher. H 20.5, D 19.3 cm. Weight 9.7 kg. Including an iron pestle thought to be the original.
South Germany (possibly Nuremberg), circa 1450.
