An important mortar with lion's head handles

Cast bronze with golden brown natural patina. Narrow conical form with protruding base and protruding moulded rim. The upper section inscribed in a broad banderole "ANNO DOMINI MDLII", below it a band of arabesques. H 23, D 19 cm. Weight 11.3 kg.
Attributed to Tyrol, 1552.
