An ivory netsuke of Ebisu, by Hidemasa. Early 19th century
Climbing over a huge blowfish (fugu), wearing an eboshi, trousers (kukuri hakama) and a garment whose long sleeves are bound together with a tasuki band tied into a large bow at the back, the fugu’s tail fin turned to the right. Pupils of the fish of black horn. Signed Hidemasa.
