A small ivory okimono of five karako and an elephant, by Hôshinsai. Second half 19th century

On top of a caparisoned elephant two karako beat a drum while three other karako stand next to the animal on a flat base, playing a flute, carrying a flag and beating a drum. Signed Hôshinsai and seal Hôzan. Restored. Chipped.
