A Silesian deeply cut glass cup and cover with courtly figures

The tapering cuppa decorated with two courtship scenes separated by strips of tendril decor. One side with a crowned conjoined monogram. Not originally associated but matching lid. Minimal chips to the foot rim. H 23 cm.
Schreiberhau/Szklarska Poreba, Preussler glass manufactory Weissbach, attributed to Christian Gottfried Schneider or Samuel Schneider, ca. 1730 - 40.

Zelasko points out that the works of the two brothers Christian Gottlieb and Samuel Schneider are difficult to distinguish. Samuel is considered to be an excellent "miniature, coat of arms, scales and ornament motif cutter". Christian Gottfried, on the other hand, has the ability to free himself from the graphic sources and to deliver his own interpretations.
