A 16th century Italian carved agate cameo with the Entombment

A finely carved round cameo with a high-relief depiction of the Entombment of Christ carved into the concave upper section. The finely worked scene depicts the Virgin Mary, Saint John, and Mary Magdalene lowering the garlanded body of Christ into a sarcophagus. The reverse of the cameo is carved with a slighly raised rosette.
A minute chip to the lower left, otherwise flawless. Diameter 4.6 cm, depth 0.9 cm.
