A Satsuma lidded box. Probably Kyoto. Late 19th century

Of flat lobed shape, painted in enamels and gold on the lid with ladies watching children at play and to the sides with flowering peonies, inside at the bottom children looking at a painting, and to the inside of the lid flowering shrubs and birds. Mark reading Hankinzandô at the base.
