An enamelled snuff box with a portrait of Friedrich II

Rectangular polychrome enamelled copper box with gilt copper mountings. The domed lid decorated with a large trophy still life resting against an eagle on a pedestal inscribed FR. The five remaining faces decorated in quodlibet style with letters and prints, the reverse inscribed with the dates 1719 and 1757. Inside the lid a portrait miniature of the King after a work by Antoine Pesne. Two corners with losses, cracks, wear to the gilding. H 4.5, W 8.2, D 6.3 cm.
Berlin, sale/production (?) attributed to Alexander Fromery, circa/after 1757.
