A Frederician silver potpourri dish

Slightly tapering fluted corpus on three scroll supports. The pierced lid formed as a branch with finely chased acanthus decor. W ca. 6.5; D 5.5; H 4.5 cm, weight 68 g.
Berlin, marked "HN" in a shield for Hermann Neupert II, circa 1770.

Neupert adopted this maker's mark with the conjoined "HN" monogram in a shield from his father Hermann Neupert I, who died in Norden in 1741, before beginning to use his own written maker's mark "NEU/PERT". For more information on this, see Scheffler 1968, p. 960, no. 32a, and cat. Norder Silber, Norden 1997, p. 19, with an illustration of the mark.
