A Riga silver-mounted porcelain tankard

Qianlong porcelain vessel in a silver-gilt setting. The Chine-de-Commande tankard with rounded handle and famille rose décor depicting scenes from the "Romance of the Western Chamber". The domed silver lid with a spherical thumb rest and inset to the top with a friendship medallion by Philipp Heinrich Müller (Augsburg 1655 - 1719) depicting Lot and Abraham to the avers with the inscription “Wir sind Gebrüder” (we are brothers) and David and Jonathan on the revers with the inscription “ICH WILL DIR THUN, WAS DEIN HERZ BEGEHRT" (I will do what your heart desires). With a hairline crack to the rim. H 18.5 cm.
