Three Labours of Hercules

Oil on panel (parquetted). Each 21 x 16 cm.

In their composition, these three paintings follow three copperplate engravings by Heinrich Aldegrever from his series of the “Labours of Hercules” from 1549/1550: Hercules and Antaeus (Bartsch 88), Hercules Saves Hippodamia from the Centaur Eurytion (Bartsch 92) and Hercules and the Kerynite Doe (Bartsch 95).
