A boxwood netsuke of a small dog and a fan. Early 19th century

Longhaired, lying on a fan (uchiwa). Very finely carved and engraved, the eyes inlaid in light horn. A long, illegible inscription in ukibori to the underside of the fan. Handle missing. Inscribed Masatomo (Shôyusai).

Die Inschrift auf der Unterseite des Fächers lautet 'Geschnitzt am 15. bei Neumond im ersten Jahr der Periode Bunkwa (1804)'
