A two-part ivory manjû. Second half 19th century

Finely engraved in sunken relief with two old men, one with a pipe playing shogi under the amused watchful eyes of the Mitsume Nyodo monster. Some dark accents. On the reverse, a tsuitate, partly polished away on the curvature through wear. Tiny damages along the edges. Restored.
