A Vienna silver tureen and stand

Oval bombé form tureen with martelé on a tapering "pleated" base. The slightly domed lid with a gadrooned rim and large floral finial. On an oval stand with a broad rim. H 29; W 33; D 19 cm, L of stand 38.5; W 35.5 cm, total weight 3,117 g.
Marks of Josef Carl Klinkosch, c. 1922 - 30.

The design of this tureen with its folded base and large stylised floral finial indicates that it was made by an artist from the circle of Dagobert Peche. Cf. Noever (ed.) Die Überwindung der Realität, Dagobert Peche und die Wiener Werkstätte, Ostfildern 1998, no. 39, 40.
