A 16th century North Italian cast bronze model of a nereid

Cast in the round, with old patina. Candle holder designed as a nereid with the body of a fish holding the candle nozzles in her upraised arms. The design is based on prototypes developed in the studio of Severo da Ravenna (1465 - 1543).
With only minimal wear. The base formed as an eagle's claw and the candle nozzles are presumably 19th century additions. Height 26 cm (with base and candle holders).
