Literature

Similar tables published in cat. K.F. Schinkel Möbel und Interieur, Munich-Berlin 2002, illus. 1 ff. With an interesting article by Achim Stiegel about "Die Differenzierung der Autorschaft. Zum Verhältnis von Entwurf und Ausführung". The example in the first illustration, a table made in Berlin for Glienicke Palace after a design by Schinkel, represented a prototype upon which all other designs of this type were based. Schinkel's original design was inspired by the archaeological excavations at Pompeii and Herculaneum.
