A Berlin KPM porcelain model of an Amazon

Model no. 12033. Depicting a lady on horseback with a battleaxe. Blue sceptre mark, year letter Z, model no. 12033, impressed marks. H 49 cm.
1926, the model by Louis Tuaillon, June 1924.

This porcelain figure is based on a life-size bronze designed by Louis Tuaillon (1862-1919) in Rome. After its presentation at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1895, it was purchased for the National Gallery. The sculpture was so popular that it was reproduced in all sizes and even a larger-than-life version, which was placed in the Tiergarten in 1905.
