A dated Hachmann mortar with dog and rabbit motifs

Golden brown cast bronze with honey coloured natural patina. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures. With two wide banderoles below the rim and above the base inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “int iaer ons heren m vc lxxiiii” and “[my]n hape stet allein in godt”. With two zoomorphic handles. Minor dents around the rim and base, casting faults in the inscription below the left handle. H 14.2, D 15.4 cm, weight c. 4.1 kg. Includes a corresponding bronze T-shaped pestle. L 29.7 cm.
